Connect ChatGPT, Claude or your code editor to Hostio once. Then ask which sites need attention, why last night's deploy failed or how fast a disk is filling; let it deploy, restart a worker or add a cron line. Nothing changes on a server before you say yes in the chat.
Server addresshttps://hostio.talivio.com/mcp
Comes with Pro and Agency, like the API. A team owner or admin connects it.
Servers: status, agent, CPU, memory, disk and load, and their history
Sites, their deploys and the full log of every Hostio deploy
The operation log, with the output of each run
Cron lines, queue workers, databases (names and sizes), certificates
Cloudflare DNS records, backup state and Hostio's findings
The key names of a site's .env, never the values
Read and operate
Deploy a site now, or schedule the deploy for later
Restart one queue worker or daemon
Run a cron line once and show its output
Issue or renew a site's Let's Encrypt certificate, where Hostio manages it
Read, operate and change settings
Set one .env key: the value is written to the server and never read back
Add, edit, pause or resume cron lines and workers
Each change runs as a dry run first; nothing is written until you say yes
Ask it
“Which of my servers need attention right now?”
“Why did the last deploy of shop.example.com fail? Show me the log.”
“How has the disk on web-1 grown over the last week?”
“Which certificates expire in the next 30 days?”
“Deploy shop.example.com and tell me when it has finished.”
“Add a cron line for the shop that runs php artisan app:report every night at 3.”
You stay in control
01When you connect, you choose the team and one of three access levels; read only is the default.
02The assistant works as you: your role in the team decides what it may do, and a member can only read.
03Every change needs your explicit yes in the chat. Cron lines, workers and certificates are previewed as a dry run first.
04No shell, no SSH keys, passwords, tokens or .env values, and nothing can be deleted. Servers, firewall, nginx, PHP and DNS changes stay in the panel.
05Every change is an operation in Hostio's log under your name, marked as an AI assistant's, and every tool call is listed under Settings → AI assistants.
06Disconnect it on the same screen at any time; its next call is refused.
Set it up
Each assistant below signs in with your Hostio account (OAuth): add the server address, sign in, choose the team and how much it may do. Menu names change between app versions; if a step looks different, look for "Connectors", "MCP" or "custom server".
Web and desktop app
ChatGPT
Open Plugins and choose + → Add custom MCP server.
Name it Hostio and paste the server address.
Choose OAuth as authentication, confirm the warning and create it.
Install the plugin, sign in to Hostio and choose the team and access.
In a new chat type @Hostio and ask. ChatGPT asks you before a tool that changes something runs.
Available on paid ChatGPT plans; in Business and Enterprise an admin may need to allow custom servers.
claude.ai and the desktop app
Claude
Open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
Name it Hostio and paste the server address.
Choose Connect, sign in to Hostio and choose the team and access.
In a chat, open the tools menu and make sure Hostio is on.
On Team and Enterprise plans an owner may need to add the connector for the organisation first.
Terminal
Claude Code
Run the command below.
Start Claude Code, type /mcp, choose hostio and Authenticate.
Sign in to Hostio in the browser and choose the team and access.
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user hostio https://hostio.talivio.com/mcp
Editor
Cursor
Open Cursor Settings → MCP and add a new server, or put the snippet below into ~/.cursor/mcp.json.
Choose Connect next to hostio and sign in to Hostio.
In the panel open Settings → AI assistants and create an AI key: read only; read and operate; or read, operate and change settings. You can limit it to some sites.
Send it as a header with the server address. For example in Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user hostio https://hostio.talivio.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer <AI key>"
A key acts as the owner or admin who made it. It is shown once; keep it secret and disconnect it on the same screen.
